Whittier, Alaska is something out of a story book. A tiny fishing town, through a one-way tunnel in the mountains. Lush ferns and moss, glaciers, ocean–Whittier has it all. Eloping in Alaska is already an adventure, and picking small quirky towns like this makes it even better. On the classically foggy day that Brienne and Jason eloped, we had a moody view of the mountains, there were salmon leaping from the water, just begging to be held for a photo. To top it all though, there was an eagle that called over head the exact moment of their first kiss. I loved their elopement for so many reasons, but among them is that you don’t have to hike a mountain to make your elopement unique, beautiful, or even ‘Alaskan’.
Right at their first kiss, the eagles began to call, a beautiful chime, declaring to all of Whittier that Brienne and Jason were now married!
The eagles, applauding in approval
Their day was complete with rock skipping and salmon-holding, grabbed right out of the water by one of the videographer’s team. Brienne was keeping a safe distance, but fully enjoyed watching the salmon try to escape from Jason. I’d say they got the full Alaska experience for their big day.
Thank you to all our amazing Alaskan vendors who made this day possible!
