There’s something so unique about an Alaska destination wedding. For Chelsea and Jordan’s big day, they chose to get married at Jordan’s remote family camp in Cottonwood, Alaska – a very small town located 60 miles north of the already rural Nome, Alaska. Chelsea and Jordan both grew up in the same town of Nome, but decided that Cottonwood was the perfect place for their big day because it was so special to them, and the scenery was so unique from that of Nome. Friends camped out on the ceremony site the night before the wedding, and Jordan’s dad created a huge 12ft custom grill where they cooked all the food for the reception. Throughout their reception and many of the portraits, Chelsea also wore a family friend’s traditional Inupiaq Atigi (parka), which was perfect for when we went to the brisk mountains. For their bride and groom portraits, we flew in a helicopter to Mosquito Pass, located in the Kigluaik Mountains. The pensive clouds accompanied by the epic views made for the most amazing backdrop. Their wedding day was beautiful with all the personal touches throughout the day, and as locals landed their airplanes/helicopters on the dirt highway to attend the ceremony, all I could think about was how uniquely Alaskan the entire day was. I am so honored that I was the one to get document their remote Alaska destination wedding.
